How do I confirm my design dates?

Your initial one-third deposit holds your design slot. Until the deposit is paid, all design dates are open to other clients. If you decide to book a design slot, you will receive an invoice. Once you send the deposit, the slot is yours!

Can I pay in installments?

Payments are automatically divided into three installments. The first is your one-third deposit. The second payment of 33% is due by our project start date, and the final 33% remainder payment is due on the last day of our design period before we launch your site.

When you pay your deposit, you will have the option to select autopay for your second and third installments to make things easier!

Which Squarespace plan do I need?

Which plan depends on what features and functionality you want on your website. I’ll help you pick the best plan for you when we get on our launch call on the first day of the design period.

As an extra perk of working with me, a member of the Squarespace Circle, you’ll receive 20% off your Squarespace plan for the first year!

I hear Squarespace uses templates. Will you pick the template or do I?

Update: Squarespace 7.1 templates now contain all functionalities built-in, meaning you no longer have to choose a template!

When does my content need to be ready?

For us to make the most effective use of our time together, you will need to submit all content by the Wednesday before your design period.

What are my responsibilities during the design slot?

During your design period, the most important thing you can do is be available via email. While there is a call on your project's first and last day, I will email you throughout the design period for edits, opinions, and clarifications.

This means it is essential you can access and respond to emails during these two weeks. Translation? Don’t schedule a design slot for when you will be on vacation with no email access!

Eeeek, I don’t think my content will be ready in time! Can we push my design date back a couple of days?

To be fair to you, and every other client in my design calendar, I stick firmly to my design schedule. All my clients would be upset if I pushed back their design date because a client earlier in the schedule wasn’t ready.

If you’re worried you won’t be able to meet the content deadlines, send me an email at hello@lynnkrueger.com, and I’ll let you know the next available date on my design calendar.

Please note that 10 business days or later after booking, there are financial repercussions to changing your design date. Your 34% deposit holds your place in the design calendar, which means that spot is no longer available to be booked by anyone else.

If you change your design date within 9 business days of booking, your deposit will be used to hold your new date in the design calendar. If you change your design date 10 business days or later after booking, your deposit cannot be used towards another design date and will not be refunded.

I need photos for my site. Do you have any tips on working with a photographer?

Yes! I would recommend creating a shot list for your photographer. You can create a board of images on Pinterest by pulling from other brands and businesses to use as inspiration for your shoot. Sharing a video shot list tends to be more effective than trying to explain to your photographer what you’re looking for.

Second, think about what you write. You will generally want studio (or outdoor) shots of you dressed to fit the essence of your brand, and potentially some shots that show what you do. This could involve pictures of you with a laptop or notebook, or you giving a talk at a school. If you need a ‘model’ to be in the photos with you, ask a friend, and make sure to let the photographer know ahead of time that you’ll be bringing someone with you. Also, make sure to plan out what props you want in your images.

Once you have a plan, stalk your potential photographers on Instagram and their website. Ask yourself if your photos turned out like the ones in their portfolio, would you be happy? Don’t hire a photographer and expect them to change their style to fit your vision - find someone whose style vibes with yours.

Similarly, only hire someone who does the types of photos you are looking for. If a photographer takes incredible nature shots, that doesn’t mean they will know how to frame you in brand photos.

Oh, one more tip. Lighting is vital for photography, so unless you’re in a studio, make sure to choose a shooting location with great natural light. As much as we like to get fancy, without good lighting even the most creative shots likely won’t work well on your website.

I need photos for my site. What are the sites you recommend for stock photos?

A: For paid stock photos try out Creative Market. For free stock photos I love Unsplash and Pexels.
